Alan Fleischmann

Alan H. Fleischmann is the President & CEO of the global strategic communications firm Laurel Strategies. He has been a proven confidential advisor to Fortune 100 CEOs, top investors, and leaders across the globe. Previously, he was Principal of the international business advisory firm Albright Stonebridge Group. He is the Co-Founder of ImagineNations Group, a global network that provides young entrepreneurs with capital and business/leadership coaching in emerging markets. Fleischmann received the 2008 Goodwin Award for ImagineNations’ global work.

For many years, Fleischmann was Senior Counselor at PSB Associates, the global strategic communications firm. He served in the United States Congress as the Staff Director of the U.S. Committee on Foreign Affairs and its Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere; he was the former Chief of Staff to Lt. Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and a member of the Maryland Governor’s Cabinet; was the founding Vice President of LATCORP; and was a Senior Associate of Chase Manhattan Bank/JP Morgan Chase. For several years, he served on the board of directors of OFFITBANK, the wealth management private bank that merged with Wells Fargo Bank.

During the historic period of the fall of the Berlin Wall, Fleischmann served as a policy aide in the German parliament, working for former German Chancellor Willy Brandt and his foundation for development and peace, while receiving a Bundestag Fellowship at the Friedrich Wilhelms Universität.

Fleischmann was appointed by the Obama Administration to serve on the Advisory Board of the U.S. Export-Import Bank, the International Trade Advisory Commission, and the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars. He is a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a board member of the Atlantic Council. Fleischmann also serves on the board of the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and chairs the Dean’s Council of the School of International Studies (SIS). Fleischmann sits on the Board of Trustees of the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies (AICGS), and is Chair of the Meridian International Center’s Global Service Leaders Initiative. He also serves on the board of Just Capital, BizCorps, the Initiative for Global Development (IGD), the Deepak Chopra Foundation, the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation, and the University of Maryland Medical System. He is a founding member of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), a member of the Bretton Woods Committee, and is on the Leadership Council of the Robert F. Kennedy Center

Fleischmann is a Trustee of the Phillips Collection art museum. He is a member of the Global Philanthropists Circle (GPC) founded by David Rockefeller and Peggy Dulany. He earned his M.A. as a Chase Scholar with honors from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). He received a B.A. and B.S. with honors from American University, where he was the valedictorian and student body president.
